What we keep, and why

Arte is a small studio, not an advertising business. We collect what a practice library needs to work, and nothing we cannot explain to you in a sentence.

What we collect

Everything below is something you gave us or something the app recorded because you asked it to.

  • Your account: name, email address, and a password that is stored only as a cryptographic hash — we never see it.
  • Your preferences: the practice rhythm you chose at sign-up, your language, and whether you asked for the newsletter.
  • Your practice: which practices you saved, which you marked complete, how many minutes they ran, and the programs you follow.
  • Your reflections: what you write under a practice or in the community circle, including notes you mark private.
  • Your sessions: a sign-in token, and the IP address and browser your session was opened from, so you can be kept signed in and we can spot a stolen session.
  • Notifications: if you turn them on, the address your browser gives us to deliver a push message.

What we do not collect

There are no advertising or analytics trackers in Arte. We do not buy data about you, sell data about you, or build a profile for anyone else.

We never see your payment details. Payments are not live yet; when they are, a payment provider will handle your card and we will only be told whether a membership is active.

Who can see your reflections

A reflection posted to the circle is visible to every signed-in member, under your name.

A reflection marked private is hidden from other members — but your instructor can read it. That is deliberate: a private note is how you ask your instructor something without the circle watching. Please do not use it for anything you would not want your instructor to read.

Where it is stored

Your data lives in a Postgres database hosted by Neon in the United States. Sign-in is handled in-house by Better Auth rather than an identity company.

If you sign in with Google or GitHub, that provider tells us your name, email address and avatar. They learn that you signed in to Arte. We never receive your password for those accounts.

Push notifications travel through the push service your browser vendor runs — Google for Chrome, Mozilla for Firefox, Apple for Safari. They carry the message; they do not have your account.

How long we keep it

Your account and practice history stay until you delete them. Expired sessions and dead notification addresses are cleared automatically.

You can delete your account from your profile at any time. That removes your account, membership record, saved practices, completions and reflections. It cannot be undone, and we cannot restore it for you afterwards.

Your choices

You do not have to ask us for any of this — it is all in the app.

  • Change your name, rhythm or newsletter preference in your profile.
  • Turn notifications off from the bell in the header, or in your browser's site settings.
  • Delete a reflection yourself, at any time.
  • Delete your whole account from your profile.

Children

Arte is meant for adults. We do not knowingly keep accounts for children under 16. If you believe a child has an account here, write to us and we will remove it.

Changes, and getting in touch

If this policy changes in a way that affects you, we will say so in the app rather than quietly editing this page.

Questions about your data, or a request we have not built a button for yet, can go to the studio directly.
